Miami’s Parade of Beds and Races in Coconut Grove is one of the wackiest events in the state, and the fun and entertainment that go with it make it the perfect way to spend the 4th of July.

The party kicks off at Noon with the Pre-Race party. Families will enjoy plenty to eat and drink along with entertainment that keeps everyone busy as the final preparations for the parade and race are finished.

At 3:30pm, the Parade of Beds, the competition for decor, takes place. The parade is followed by nearly two hours of Bed Races along the street. After the winner is announced, the party turns into a huge summer barbecue. One of the best fireworks displays in the area goes off at 9:30pm.

Kids will love the amazing beds and cheer for their favorite in the races. Past beds have been decorated in any theme imaginable, including boats, a school of fish above an ocean floor (complete with a shark), a rocket ship, a baby crib, a pickup truck, and a bubble bath. Participants often dress in costume, and the competition is just good silly fun.

The Parade of Beds and Races will be one of the most unusual, interesting things families will ever do to celebrate Independence Day, and it’s an experience the kids will remember for years.
