Designed by famed theater architect Thomas W. Lamb and opened in 1936, the Lincoln Theater is a jewel of Art Deco architecture, with its sleek, curving shapes and intricate stylized floral reliefs on its coral-pink facade and elegantly appointed interior. The 713-seat theater underwent a major renovation in 1990. The facade was kept exactly as the original, but the interior was rebuilt to today‘s standards of comfort and state of the art acoustics. Now, the Lincoln houses the New World Symphony, under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas. It creates post-graduate playing opportunities for young musicians who are finished with their schooling.
