The Rubell Family Collection is one of the leading collections of Contemporary Art in the world. Exhibited in a converted 32,000 square foot former D.E.A. confiscated goods warehouse, it is a permanent museum of the Rubells‘ extensive collection of work dating from the 1960s to the present.
Open to the public since 1996, the collection features rotating exhibitions of works by such prominent artists as Maurizio Cattelan, Keith Haring, Damien Hirst, Anselm Kiefer, Jeff Koons, Paul McCarthy, Takashi Murakami, Charles Ray, David Salle, Julian Schnabel, Gregor Schneider and Cindy Sherman. The Collection director, Mark Coetzee, leads a guided tour each day from 1-2 p.m. Guided tours are available outside of these hours on request in English, Spanish, Afrikaans, Flemish, French, German and Italian. The Collection library is available to artists, historians and the public for research. The Collection has various educational projects and arranges workshops developed for the group‘s needs from High School to University.
