Overview
There is a year
'round program of activities at the park, ranging from lectures by
environmentalists, historians and archaelogists to monthly films featuring
environmental subjects. Guided trail walks are held every Saturday at 9:30 AM.
and many Dade County school children visit on a regular basis.
This is a small park that packs a big punch from the standpoint of natural
history. Arch Creek Park was created around a natural limestone bridge formation
that once formed part of an important Indian trail. The story goes that it was
used first by the now-extinct Tequesta tribe, then by Seminoles.
The park has a museum/nature center that contains artifacts left by native
people as they passed over the arched bridge. Miami-Dade Parks naturalists will
be your guides as they point out native birds, animals and insects and identify
the many different trees that grow there. The park is a Florida State historical
preserve.
Use Miami kids and make Miami fun for the kids...and you!
