Overview

WHY IS BISCAYNE BAY SO SWEET?
Three major marine eco-systems - the Keys, Florida's east coast barrier islands, and the Atlantic Ocean converge in Biscayne Bay, resulting in an amazingly fertile and vibrant fishery that supports BIG predatory fish. Snook here are simply bigger than their cousins elsewhere in the state. Tarpon love the place and Biscayne bones are legendary for their size. Captain Alex Rodriguez has spent most of his life learning the nuances of this eco-system and how to find its prize game fish.

NIGHT FISHING: 2:00 in the morning. The tide has turned and is showing little signs of moving back out to the Atlantic. A manta ray, hunting shrimp, swoops by the back of the boat and disappears into the darkness. Alex sets the perfect drift through Haulover Inlet. Your jig bounces bottom, drops, bounces, drops, just as it has for the past hour. Then BOOM, you're hit. Something very alive and very strong is hooked. Line zips off your reel as the fish bolts for the ocean. Miami sleeps as you struggle with this fish.

Nighttime battles with monster snook and tarpon in Upper Biscayne Bay are Captain Alex's forte. Despite the daytime boat traffic and hustle and bustle of Miami, big fish thrive here, and
darkness is their friend. Alex focuses his nighttime fishing on Government Cut and Haulover Inlet, as well as the interior of Upper Biscayne Bay, depending on wind and weather conditions.
If you want the extreme experience of fighting a tank snook or tarpon at night, give Alex a call.

DAY TRIPPING
The flats are beautiful. They are extreme. They are both generous and contrary. They will beat you down. On this day the wind kicks up. Clouds move in, making fish truly invisible. It's been three hours and all you've seen are sharks and rays. Other skiffs retire for the afternoon. But Alex won't give up. He knows a sheltered spot. Once there he begins poling. Halfway across the flat he whispers, "Fish! One o'clock. 30 yards." You see it now. But it's too big to be a bone. Is it? No. Wait, My god, it is. It's a bone. Crunch time. It's all you, now. It's your fault or your prize. You cast. Close enough. The fish perks up. Alex makes you wait and wait and wait.
"Now!" Fish on!

Flats fishing for outsized bones, permit and tarpon in Lower Biscayne Bay is Alex's daytime passion. Whether it's the inside flats and mangrove lines or the ocean side flats and channels,
Alex knows and loves this dynamic environment. Give him a call for the classic flats experience.
